The pressing of olives was akin to one of the labours of Hercules

In the article written by Alvaro Joppi, a journalist of L'Arena, back in May 1988, our Museum is a realcomplete collection of rare tools from the rural oil mill.  Since its foundation by  Umberto Turri, the initiative has had not only a spirit of conservation  but above all numerous didactic objectives to tell of the evolution of oil production in all its facets.

  “The exhibition…” Alvaro Joppi narrated: “… is the testimony to a type of processing which perpetuated for more than a millennium and then radically changed with the appearance, in the artisanal workshops ,of iron hydraulic presses”.

Today, the Museum houses 450 historical pieces related to the olive production  tradition and receives visitors from all over the world.
